Which Superhero are You?

Of all the superheroes, who are you? Maybe you’ve thought about this before.

                                                          ----------------------

I share a mutual respect with a special soul that posed this question to me. Join me for my response.

Our father told us stories when we were small children when it was time for bed. He filled our thoughts and hearts with the wonder of story and magic.

----------------------

I do not remember when I bought my first comic book. I do remember I could not wait to finish it to immediately begin to read it again. There was Superman, Batman, Flash, and Wonder Woman from the now DCU. There was also Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Thor from the MCU. I fed on all their feats.

While I understood they were not real, they inspired in me a deep desire to be present for people that could benefit from the presence of and encouragement of another person. If you want to be a contemporary superhero, be present for a hurting child that feels lost, alone, and believes no one cares.

Be present for a hurting adult that feels lost, alone, and believes no one cares. Be present for an aging soul that feels lost, alone, and believes no one cares. Be present for a sick and suffering soul laden with the diseases of trauma, addiction, poverty, and living without the things that are necessary for life that feels lost, alone, and believes no one cares.

That is the superhero I determine I would be and declare that I am. I became this by intention as I have traveled around the corner and around the world to be the presence of loving comfort to the many that feel lost, alone, and believe no one cares.

Dean Cain of the 90’s Lois and Clark said, “Real heroes don't wear capes. Real superheroes wear uniforms and badges and stethoscopes! Real superheroes are members of our military, law enforcement, and first responders. Pretend superheroes wear capes!

I say to you that superheroes are real people that show by their actions their desire to be present for and to provide comfort to the many that feel lost, alone, and believe no one cares. I invite you to join me on this quest to build loving community everywhere you have opportunity to be present. Release your inner superhero.
